Wearable Soft Robots & Gait Assistance
Overview
A soft wearable robot is only useful if you can prove it actually helps. My work develops the quantitative metrics and evaluation protocols for soft exosuits and hybrid robot suits that assist walking and grasping — from early lab prototypes through field-ready designs.
Methodology
- Gait and lower-limb kinematic metrics for evaluating walking performance with soft wearable gait-assistance robots.
- Motion capture, metabolic systems (energy efficiency), and musculoskeletal simulation to analyze joint loads and motion patterns for a hybrid, human-augmentation robot suit.
- Evaluation methods for grasping-assistance wearable soft robots, developed as part of a long-running Engineering Research Center (ERC) program.
Selected Outputs
